The Nanai is a native animal to Fiji. It starts as a worm, then is fish like thing, next the nani is an insect and it goes into a hole for two days. Finally it flies away. This only happens once a year so if you see the Nanai it is very amazing.
The Nanai does go through a number of different stages or "lives" a bit like a butterfly but perhaps even more diverse. I wonder if you will get a chance to see one. I like the way that you can get to learn quite a lot about Fiji by studying the Fijian bank notes.
